    The Role: Technical Team Lead

    Location: Honolulu, HI


    The Company


    Personiv is recruiting on behalf of First Insurance Company of Hawaii, or FICOH, the oldest and largest property and casualty insurance company headquartered in Hawaii. Owned by global insurance leader, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., with over $640 million in assets.





    • Provide technical oversight, related but not limited to, code and design reviews to junior staff members and contractors
    • Attend product based (Guidewire Suite) training sessions
    • Become the technical subject matter expert in various areas
    • Participate in troubleshooting day to day developer issues as they relate to code merges, code conflicts, rebasing and branching
    • Perform code enhancements and bug fixes
    • Keep abreast of changes in standards, technologies or methodologies
    • Work closely with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance and Architects and Business Units in design sessions and defect triage
    • Work closely with Business Analysts and Business Units in spring grooming activities




    • 4 year college degree in IT Software Development or equivalent experience
    • 5-6 years of software development experience
    • 1-2 years as a formal team leader
    • Experience in working within the Atlassian toolset (Confluence, JIRA, BitBucket)
    • Advanced experience working with GIT (including but not limited to using GIT command line, resolving conflicts, merging and rebasing)
    • Working knowledge of Continuous Integration/Deployment tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy
    • Strong understanding of Object Oriented Design and demonstrated experience in an OOP language preferably Java
    • Ability to manage technical teams and projects independently
    • Ability to work (and contribute ideas and thoughts) with System/Technical Architects on design aspects of projects
    • Strong technical and leadership skills
    • Ability to develop, adhere to and report on project plans
    • Ability to multi task within a myriad of technologies and projects running in parallel
    • Strong troubleshooting skills
    • Demonstrated experience in an AGILE Development environment
    • Ability to work well in a technically diverse team and with teams across the ITS department


    Additional Preferred Qualifications:


    • Scrum Master Certification
    • Development experience in Guidewire Insurance Suite products
    • 2-3 years development experience in GOSU
    • Configuring Atlassian
    • Experience in working in AGILE/SDLC Process improvement projects
    • Working experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry
