    The Role

     

    Titan America has an excellent opportunity for a MSHA Safety Supervisor at our Troutville, VA facility. This exempt position will report functionally to the MSHA Safety Director and administratively to the Environmental & Safety Manager. The primary function of this position is to ensure compliance of all safety affairs as regulated through the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals & Energy (DMME), Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).

    • Promote safety program, compliance with safety standards and lead and/or participate in site safety meetings.
    • Ensure compliance through MSHA including employee (task) training and monitoring occupational exposure limitations.
    • Monitor safety progress against goals and implement programs as directed.
    • Follow appropriate reporting procedures.
    • Direct and/or conduct prompt investigations of safety related incidents including root-cause analysis with a focus toward prevention. Individual will promptly communicate findings and update safe work procedures.
    • Serve as contact person between regulatory agencies and operations as required.
    • Manage pro-active Behavior Based Safety Program.
    • Manage the training program for the plant including safety, equipment, task and procedures.
    • Position will require occasional travel.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Safety and Health (preferred), engineering or a related technical field
    • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing safety management. Experience in a mining operation preferred.
    • Must have a detailed working knowledge of MSHA and/or OSHA regulations, policies, and procedures understanding of laws and regulations as they relate to safety compliance within the RCC location
    • In addition, experience managing a behavior-based safety program is strongly desired.
    • Experience in dealing with the aforementioned agencies preferred.
    • DMME experience and exposure to managing complex permits a plus.
